Our Approach at SCS
SCS is a human relations consultancy founded on a passion for working with people to alleviate personal suffering, promote psychogenic well–being and personal self-development.
You should not feel afraid, and there is no stigma, slight or shame in asking for help from professionals to work with you to achieve a better insight and understanding into your own life. Dealing with past disappointments, conflicts with others, difficulties in leading a self-fulfilling existence, and overcoming problems is very much the ‘stuff’ of life and as such is crucial to well–being and living a happy life.
At SCS we endeavour to arrange a consultation appointment within 7 days of you phoning for an appointment and provide a place with a counsellor or psychotherapist within 14 days. We can offer a range of therapeutic approaches within an existential–phenomenological psychotherapeutic frame using as appropriate cognitive–behavioural (CBT), integrative and other perspectives. Our approach is to address people’s life issues in a direct, open and pragmatic manner. The Client may be perceived as the artist for his/her life, at SCS we put our professional resources and know–how at your disposal to facilitate and improve your brush strokes in dealing with particular traumas and dilemmas and generally improving your art work to achieve well–being, inner peace, and balance in everyday living.
We offer a consultation session prior to therapy to determine how you may be best placed. Although unlikely this may involve onward referral to health practitioners outside the SCS service or to an appropriate local community based service. At SCS however we will do our best to place you within the agency and will observe and discuss with you the nature of the counselling or psychotherapeutic service best fitted to your needs whilst observing any particular needs, for example preferred gender of the therapist, need for appointment at a certain time/location. All decisions concerning counselling and psychotherapy are made in consultation with the client. We endeavour to ensure our service is not only affordable to all people but tailored to meet individual needs. There is a set consultation fee of £20.00 and the level of fee for regular sessions is graduated according to our fees structure which ranges between £30—£45 subject to the nature of the service and time of the session.
All SCS therapists are trained professionals registered with the United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapy and/or counsellors registered by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. The therapists work under the direct supervision of the SCS Director and SCS Management Committee and have been chosen for their maturity, ethical stance, and demonstrated professionalism. SCS therapists have in excess of 50 years of therapeutic experience between them.
