United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy — UKCP
The United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) exists to promote high standards of training and practice in psychotherapy for the benefit of the public throughout the United Kingdom. The Council promotes research and education in psychotherapy and disseminates the results of any research and research through publications, meetings, newsletters and conferences on the nature of psychotherapy and its application. The UKCP ensures the protection and education of the public and is working towards Statutory Regulation of the profession.

The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy monitors policy and standards on good practice for the counselling and psychotherapy professions. It aims to promote an understanding and awareness of counselling and psychotherapy throughout society, increase the availability of trained and supervised counsellors, maintain and raise standards of training and practice, provide support for counsellors and those using counselling skills, and provide opportunities for their continual professional development.
