What we offer at SCS

SCS offers the opportunity to talk and work through personal problems and developmental aspirations in a safe and confidential space enabling clients to gain perspective, insight and understanding to better cope with life issues and dilemmas. All sessions are private and confidential providing the opportunity for the Client and practitioner to focus wholly on the Client’s needs.

Therapy Sessions

You may find seeing a therapist at SCS helpful if you are struggling with personal and life event situations. We offer individual (one–to–one) counselling sessions for those who have personal problems and couple counselling for those with relationship issues. We also offer in–depth longer term psychotherapy to enable people to tackle personal difficulties of a more intensive nature secure in our therapeutic setting. Additionally we provide group work, stress management and sessions generally designed to meet individual and group needs. Our therapeutic practices, located in West Byfleet, Cranleigh and Guildford, provide the opportunity to face, explore, discover and clarify ways of working towards greater well–being and resolving issues causing unhappiness, personal disharmony, pain and mental suffering. For example these may include:

Our therapeutic sessions are 50 minutes in length for one–to–one counselling (couple counselling is usually 75 minutes). Therapeutic treatment is open ended and no time limit is placed on the overall number of sessions. Counselling generally requires at least ten to fifteen sessions. Psychotherapy is generally more intensive and involves a longer duration commitment of at least one year.

Life Coaching — Personal Development

Life coaching and personal development sessions at SCS focus on facilitating improvement in Clients personal lives as well as their working lives. Personal life coaching involves helping people to create and achieve personal goals, maximize personal development and generally helps people to appreciate what is required to navigate and effect transitions on life’s emerging paths. It may help with coping strategies in circumstances when unforeseen tragedies and phenomena emerge. At SCS our ultimate aim with life coaching is to help people become skilled at self–coaching.

At SCS life coaching can be considered separately or integrated specifically in with therapeutic treatment. All therapists are to an extent life coaches — in that both therapists and coaches are concerned with the client’s well–being and their ability to lead a fulfilling existence. Life coaching sessions will focus on specific objectives associated with the client’s personal development needs and their defined aspirations to lead what they may feel is a more effective life. At SCS therapists trained in life coaching and solution focused therapy are uniquely positioned to use CBT and REBT techniques. These skills complement life coaching; they facilitate learning processes and new mind–constructions as well as development of communication and action skills needed by the client to meet specific objectives. For example this may by way of example include:

SCS life coaching provides an opportunity that facilitates helping people to lead happy and more fulfilled confident lives by being more skillful in how they live. It is not just concerned with helping Clients to be able to handle past experiences and deprivations; it is concerned with helping people to live happier and more fulfilled lives by being more skillful in how they live.

Our one–to–one life coaching sessions are 60 minutes in length and although no time limit is placed on the overall number of sessions Clients are encouraged to engage in at least six to twelve sessions.
